Tool for DP2 (AT8) torque converters repair

The lockup unit of DP2 (AT8) torque converters has design features that make rebuilding process difficult:

  1. It is impossible to remove the piston without separating the welded body and hub of the torque converter.
  2. After assembly, it is necessary to ensure that there is a gap to keep free movement of the piston after riveting.
  3. It is impossible to use pull-out rivets due to the lack of space above the piston for the upper head of the rivet.

The TCRT 02.001 tool is specially designed for repairing DP2 and AT8 torque converters.

Application areas:

  1. Disassembling (cutting) the lockup unit.
  2. performing riveted connections of parts of the lockup unit.
  3. Alignment and centering of torque converter parts (hub, body) during welding of them.

TCRT 02.001 helps to separate the torque converter body and hub. The tool fixes the torque converter body in the chuck of the lathe, ensuring the accuracy of the annular cut and preserving the base mounting surfaces.

TCRT 02.001 ensures the exact mutual arrangement (adjacent and centering) of the base surfaces of the hub and the torque converter body at the welding stage, which significantly reduces the risk of their damage during operation.

Strong piston connection

The tool consists of a set of devices developed by our engineers which allow for a reliable riveted connection of the piston with leaf springs without drilling the torque converter body.

The first stage is pressing with a hydraulic piston from the set:

  • Allows you to eliminate the gap between the body and the parts of the riveted connection.
  • Allows you to pre-press the rivet.
  • Ensures that there is a gap between the lower head of the rivet and the body after the joint is assembled.

The second stage is pressing with a punch from the set: final pressing and forming the upper head of the rivet.
